About Heather

Most people arrive carrying more than they can name -
a story unfinished.
I meet them at the threshold of where the

story is asking to be told ...

to be heard...

for Truth to find its voice.

I am a spiritual director and mentor devoted to spiritual formation, inner healing, and relational transformation. I accompany individuals and groups in listening deeply to their lives attending to the places where prayer, experience, and relationship meet so that the wisdom God has already placed within each person can be named, trusted, and lived from the deepest level.

I serve as mentor and faculty with the CenterQuest School of Spiritual Direction, where I have taught Contemplative Prayer and Theological Reflection, and continue to walk alongside emerging directors in their formation. Teaching and mentoring have been steady companions since my mid-twenties, shaping me both through being companioned and through accompanying others.

I have always been drawn to story. Formed by my Gaelic and Celtic roots, where music, poetry, and ancestral memory carry meaning; I learned early that listening itself is a reverent act. This way of listening continues to guide my vocation, particularly as people find themselves at profound life-changing thresholds marked by transition, desire, longing, loss, or trauma.

Alongside spiritual direction, my life’s work has unfolded in healthcare and education. For more than thirty years, I have worked with individuals and families living with illness, grief, trauma, mental health, and profound change. I have taught BSN students in university settings across Vancouver, British Columbia; Bellingham and Seattle, Washington; and the Bay Area and Los Angeles, California focusing on the whole spectrum of healing and caring sciences.  Whether in classrooms, community settings, or one-to-one accompaniment, my attention has remained with the whole person, integrative attention: body, mind, and spirit.

My formation weaves together the bio-psycho-social-spiritual care  and leadership training, early studies in theatre arts, and a lifelong grounding in Celtic Christian spirituality - all through a Christian informed lens. Writing, imagination, and contemplative practice inform how I work attentively, relationally, and with respect for what unfolds and rises up over time.

Over the years, my work has become even more increasingly integrative, distilled and attuned holding the wisdom gained from working on the front lines and in leadership. I draw from contemplative spiritual direction, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment- and parts-informed approaches, somatic awareness, narrative and liturgical practices, and group process grounded in the healing power of community. I am currently deepening this integration through leadership formation and therapeutic training in Confessional Communities with New Story Behavioral Health.

I hold two Master of Science in Nursing degrees, one in Health Systems Leadership and another in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing anticipating licensure and board certification as a PMHNP in Spring 2026. I currently teach BSN students at the University of Washington.

At heart, my calling is to cultivate spaces where people feel seen, known, and safe enough to tell the truth of their lives  ... spaces where spiritual formation and neuroscience  meet with humility, compassion, and grace, and where fuller freedom in Christ is gently invited.

Elizabeth R, Artist & Art Teacher

I was navigating daunting challenges in midlife, and from the moment I entered this group spiritual direction space with Heather, I felt welcomed, held, and safe to share my experience. Through Heather’s gentle guidance, I was able to see my situation with greater depth. Hearing my own words reflected back, along with the insights of the group, brought new awareness and a renewed sense of strength. This session was a true gift, one that will stay with me.

Adrian J., Psychotherapist & Filmmaker

"My soul care journey with Heather was at once a retreat and an advance in my life. She listened me into deeper relationship with myself and with knowing that more lay hidden at the periphery of my awareness. Her guidance has helped me construct new meaning and a larger, more nuanced story about who I am.  She is a true 'anam cara’, one whom I recommend unreservedly for the great journey in."

Chris A., Botanist, Artist, Trauma Specialist

"Heather is a gifted facilitator…coherent and artful. Inspired and inspiring. The world sorely needs people like this ..."

Dawn F., Psychotherapist & Social Worker

"What is most impactful about spiritual companionship is my growing and more intimate relationship with God as I understand God. Heather supports this with deep presence and her emotional connection with me through prayer and reflection.  After journeying with Heather, I have developed a deeper appreciation for myself and my relationship with God.  I felt emotionally broken in the beginning and now feel more whole mentally and spiritually.  Heather has offered me the loving and safe space to further explore my deepest needs and return to my inner, loving self."
